Valentine Project: On Monday, your child will come home with a small zip-loc bag, containing the materials and instructions for a Valentine Project. This project must be returned to school by Thursday, February 11th. This project will take quite a while for your child to do, so please help your child budget his/her time. I am not giving math homework on Monday or Tuesday night, so please use that time to get started!
Reading: Last week we just started to talk about how a story may remind you of something that has happened to you, in your life. We call these text-to-self connections. This week, we will be learning a lot more about text-to-self connections, and how best to use them to help us when we read.
In the classroom, we will be changing our reading spots, and many of the students will be getting new reading partners too!
Writing: Continuing on in our unit that is focused on making the students' writing easy-to-read, we will focus on handwriting and rereading to make sure our writing makes sense.
Math: We'll start off the week spending two days talking about number stories and then spend the rest of the week developing the students' math fact power.
*If your child did not understand last Thursday night's math homework, do not be concerned. I was not in school to teach the lesson, but the homework was already in their mailboxes. I apologize!
Theme Study: We're starting our study of Mexico this week!
Extras: We're running low on tissues! If you would like to donate a box of tissues to 1-Bu, we would be very appreciative!
