Open House is coming up! On Thursday, May 25th, all CHS families are invited to visit their children's classrooms to see some of the work that has been going on. Please make every effort to attend this event, at 7pm, with your child. It's a great chance for your child to take charge and show you some of what goes on during his/her time at school. You'll receive more information about this event as we get closer.
Here's what we've been working on in the classroom:
Reading : Last week, the students practiced using their inferring skills with some fun picture books. The students absolutely loved trying to figure out what happened at the end of I Want My Hat Back and This Is Not My Hat by Jon Klassen.
Writing : We continued working on our poetry unit last week. The students wrote Cinquain poems and Who Am I poems. You'll get a chance to see your child's Who Am I poem at Open House in a couple of weeks!
Math : We wrapped up Unit 8 last week and did some fun math projects related to number grids and composite shapes. You'll get to see these projects at Open House, too! (Have I convinced you to come to Open House yet?)
Social Studies : The students continued learning about the Founding Fathers of America. Last week, our focus was Ben Franklin. Perhaps you'll see some Founding Fathers project at Open House, too!
Have a great week! (I'm keeping all photos to myself for the next couple of weeks so that everything at Open House is a surprise for you!)
