Last week, 1-Bu got to visit the Star Lab and learn about some of the stars we see in the night sky. Mr. Corcoran showed us what the stars would look like on Monday night and showed us some of the constellations that are often visible in New Jersey.
Here's what we've been working on in the classroom:
Reading : Last week was a reorganization week for reading in 1-Bu. We tried to increase 1-Bu's reading stamina by reading for a little bit longer than the students are used to. It went well and the students are excited about continuing to grow their reading stamina. The longer that the students are able to read, the better readers they will become!
Writing : The students continued to work on their 'all about' books last week. Most of the students have at least a couple sections of their books completed. We went over ways that nonfiction authors incorporate 'types of' pages and 'how to' sections into their books. Ask your child what sections he/she has written so far.
Math : We continued to talk about defining and nondefining attributes of shapes last week - and the students are getting pretty good at it! The students were also introduced to function machines, and how to find the rule.
