Don't forget that 1-Bu is making gingerbread houses this Wednesday, the 19th. I'm looking forward to seeing some of you! Please remember that only one adult is allowed per child due to space constraints in the classroom.
Here's what we've been doing in the classroom :
Reading : We talked all about retelling last week. The students know that the important parts to include in a retell are the characters, setting, problem, 'happenings' (or events,) and solution. When you're done reading books at home with your child, see if you can retell the story together! You can always take a quick peek back in the book for help. :)
Writing : The students worked very hard on their How to Make a Gingerbread House books last week. They worked on breaking down the directions into steps and using sequencing words to transition from one step to the next.
Math : Last week, we talked about ways to gather and represent data. The students were already very familiar with tally charts from earlier in the year, but we learned how to transfer data from a tally chart to a bar graph. We also talked about doubles facts and practiced learning them.
Sorry, no pictures from last week! I hope you all have a fantastic break!
