Here's what we've been doing in the classroom (in an abbreviated style, so that you still have something to look forward to at Open House) :
Reading : The students started working in book clubs! Each book club is reading a different series of books. The students have been continuing to work on our character unit through work in their book clubs. You'll see their completed book club projects at Open House.
Writing : We continued our poetry unit. The students have written a few different list poems, an All About Me poem, a Cinquain poem, and a sensory poem. We also began working on looking at normal, everyday objects with our poets' eyes.
Math : We have worked on some fun math projects and activities over the past couple of weeks that have reviewed and deepened the skills that we've learned thus far this year. You'll see what I'm talking about at Open House. :)
Social Studies : We have been deeply immersed in learning about different cultures and the students have been LOVING it. 1-Bu was so incredibly fortunate to have so many 1-Bu family members volunteer to come in and teach us a little bit about another place in the world. Thank you, thank you, thank you to those of you who came in! You were awesome!!!
Robotics : 1-Bu has continued to deepen their knowledge about coding with the Ozobots. A couple of weeks ago, I may have given the students a task that was a little too hard for them to successfully complete (sorry guys!), but they sure learned a lot in the process. They are becoming pros at creating paths and writing codes for the Ozobots to follow. You'll get to see what I'm talking about at Open House. :)
