This Thursday is Open House! Please make every effort to attend as it's a great opportunity for you child to share all of the things he/she has been working on recently.
Here's we've been working on in the classroom:
Reading : Last week, the students worked on developing their reading stamina. At the beginning of the year, the class was only able to read independently for about 5 minutes. Now, the students have been reading for close to half an hour!
Writing : We've been continuing to work on poetry during writing workshop. Last week, the students continued writing sensory poems, cinquain poems, and worked on their poet's eye by writing about regular, everyday objects.
Math : In math, the students learned about telling time to the half hour, reviewed tally charts and bar graphs, and learned about number-grid puzzles.
Science : We learned about different adaptations that animals in the desert have in order to survive in the harsh climate. The students even created their own desert animals!
Here are some pictures from last week. Have a great week!
