Thank you for all of your help getting your child's Valentine Hearts Project in on time. The students LOVED reading what everyone else had to say about themselves.
During our Valentines' Day party on February 12th, the students created valentines for local senior citizens. After school that day, I took all of the valentines the students made to HomeWell Senior Care Services, and they were absolutely thrilled to receive them. They handed them out to seniors they cared for on the Valentines' Day weekend. Great job 1-Bu!
Reading: Before break, we started discussing text-to-text connections (when one text reminds you of another text you've read). This week, we'll work a little more on making sure we make meaningful connections, and then move on to discussing text-to-world connections.
Writing: We never ended up getting a chance to choose a piece to publish before break, so we will do that this week. Then, the students will work with partners to edit their pieces and start the publishing process.
Math: We're starting Unit 6! This unit is focused on addition and subtraction facts. Starting on Wednesday, we'll be discussing 'fact families,' which enable the students to have a deeper understanding of the relationship(s) between and among addition and subtraction facts. On Thursday, we'll learn about 'fact triangles.' Please carefully review the information sheet that comes home, as fact triangles are very useful tools in the students' development of fact power.
Extras: Please remind your child of the Cherry Hill snow rules. The students may not pick up or climb on the snow before, during, or after school. This is a safety issue that we take very seriously.
Scholastic orders are due February 23rd.
Have a great week!
