Last week, we had two more great 1-Bu family members presentations. Thank you so much to the families that came in, the students and I learned a lot! We also went to the Spring Concert, which the students enjoyed.
Reading : The students have been doing an amazing job creating 'wonderings' (or questions) about non-fiction topics. Last week, we worked on the best ways to try to find answers to our wonderings in books. This week, we're going to share the research that we've done about our wonderings with others by creating 'wondering boxes.'
Talk with your child about wonderings he/she may have (about anything) and how he/she could go about finding the answers. We discussed how now-a-days, I do a search on google to find many of the answers to my wonderings. However, it's still important that the students be able to locate specific information in traditional texts as well.
Writing : This week, we're going to focus on many different kinds of writing - from letters, to notes, to lists, and signs. When we get back from break, we'll start out next major writing unit.
Math : Please keep practicing counting money at home. Last week, we learned about the dollar. Now the students should be able to count various cominations of coins with dollar bills.
This week, we're going to spend time learning about fractions. We'll start off by talking about equal parts, and then dive straight into fraction parts of a whole object.
Odds and Ends : Remember, there is no school next week (4/18-4/19) due to spring break. Enjoy your week!
