The highlight of last week for the students was Chromebook Cousins. We have teamed up with Ms. O'Reilly's kindergarten class so that we can teach them a little bit about Chromebooks. The students had a lot of fun meeting their kindergarten buddies last week, showing them how to navigate a Google Doc and take a few snapshots. Look below for some pictures.
Here's what else we've been working on in the classroom:
Reading : Last week, we worked on expanding the inferring skills that the students learned while reading poetry. The students worked on inferring the meanings of wordless pictures and videos. It's fun getting a glimpse into the minds of the students when they have to use clues to figure out what's going on.
Writing : We started our poetry unit last week! After immersing ourselves in poetry during our last reading unit, the students are excited to start writing some poems of their own. So far, the students have worked on list poems. Ask your child what he/she wrote about!
Math : Last week, we went over telling time to the half hour and deepened the students' understanding of the number grid by working on number-grid puzzles. Next week, we'll be starting our last math unit - unit 9!
Social Studies : We started learning about the creation of America last week. So far, we've gone over the thirteen colonies and a quick overview of the Revolutionary War. Then, we learned a little bit about Thomas Jefferson's role as a Founding Father.
