Reading : Last week was a little bit of an organizational week in reading. Most of the students got new reading partners. Ask your child who his/her reading partner(s) is/are now.
This week in reading we will be addressing what 'just right' books are and how to figure out if a book is 'just right.'
Writing : Last week, we started learning about what details are. So far, the students know that details are something that you can add to your writing to make it more descriptive, but they don't quite know how to do it themselves just yet. We'll be working on that this week.
Math : Last week, we learned about how to use the number line to solve addition and subtraction problems. We also spent some time working with odd and even patterns on dominoes. The students have become pros about odd and even numbers. Ask your child what odd and even numbers are!
Theme Study : Last week we took some time to learn a little bit about the historical significance of Thanksgiving.
Odds and Ends : Tuesday, November 27th and Thursday, November 29th are 12:45pm dismissal days. There is no lunch on 12:45 dismissal days, but we always have 'snunch' about half way through those days.
Please remember that parent/teacher conferences are scheduled for November 27th and November 29th. Please do your best to make it on time because the schedule is quite tight.
