Here's what we've been doing in the classroom recently :
Reading : We continued to learn about how readers ask questions to deepen their understanding of what they read. The students did a great job asking questions before, during, and after reading. We also spoke about how many times you will not be able to find answers to the questions that you ask. In those cases, you must infer the answers.
Writing : It took a lot of work to get the students' nonfiction all about books finished, but they are mostly all done! Now we're moving on to a poetry unit in writing.
Math : We focused on some geometric principles last week, learning about composite shapes and 3-dimensional shapes. The students have really enjoyed doing tangram puzzles online. On Friday, the students made composite shapes with pentominoes, which they had a lot of fun with. See the pictures below of them working with pentominoes.
Science : Last week we did a lot of research on how different baby animals survive. This week, the students will use what they learned to create their own types of baby animals.
Have a great week!
