It was so nice to meet with many of you last week to discuss your child's progress. Please know that you do not need to wait for specified conference times to ask me questions. You may contact me whenever you'd like if you have questions about your child's progress.
Here's what we've been working on in the classroom:
Reading : We continued learning about how to use nonfiction conventions to learn information last week. We went over comparisons, cutaways, close-ups, and maps.
Writing : We started our nonfiction 'all about' unit last week. In this unit, the students will be creating nonfiction books about a topic they know 'all about.' So far, the students have created a list of things they are experts at, chosen topics to write about, brainstormed information they knew about the topics, and organized the information into chapters/sections for their books.
Math : We continued practicing math facts in school last week. Please keep the fact triangles that come home with the students' homework so that your child can further develop his/her fact power.
