It was nice seeing so many of you at your child's conference on Tuesday. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any lingering questions. I'm always available to meet or chat by phone.
We had a visit from Officer Hamm and another River Edge police officer on Monday. They showed the students some of the equipment and tools that police officers use.
Reading : Last week, the students focused on looking for facts they found interesting in nonfiction books. The students have been doing a great job using a variety of nonfiction text features to learn these facts. This week, the students will be creating a fun fact page, using a fact that they think is interesting and worthy of sharing with others.
Writing : The students started their final opinion pieces last week, which will be letters to others telling people about things that they want to change. Watch out! Some of you may be getting letters with your child requesting his/her own room or a pet!
Math : We did some more work with place value last week and added the hundreds place to the students' repertoires.
Science : We're knee-deep learning all about animals and how they use their body parts to survive. Last week, we focused on what body parts animals use to move themselves and how being able to move is important for animals' survival.
Sorry, no other pictures of 1-Bu this week!
