Here's what we've been working on in the classroom lately :
Reading : We've been doing lots of work with retelling in reading. In 1-Bu, we say that a retell is 'when you tell the story again,' hopefully without using the book. While you're doing that, it's important to make sure you include the characters, setting, problem, solution, and main events.
Writing : Before break, the students had so much fun finishing up their How to Make a Gingerbread House books and sharing them with you. Thank you to those of you who were able to come and make gingerbread houses with us. (Please see the pictures below of those of you whose children I have permission to post pictures of online.)
After break, the students began working on creating more how to pieces, but this time on topics of their choices.
Math : Last week we talked about how to gather and represent different types of data. The students now know how to represent data using tally charts and bar graphs. They also learned a little bit about pictograms!
Social Studies : We continued our geography unit last week by learning about how maps show different things like rivers, lakes, and boundaries.
Here are some long overdue pictures of 1-Bu from before break. Enjoy!
