Reading : We started learning about nonfiction last week. The students have had a great time going through nonfiction books. So far, we've talked about the differences between fiction and nonfiction and how to determine if a book is nonfiction.
Please be aware that the nonfiction books that your child may be bringing home may not be at his/her reading level. If this happens and the book is too hard, please read the book with your child. During this unit, we will be talking about many ways that readers can learn information from nonfiction books, and many of them don't even require being able to read all of the words.
Writing : We continued working on writing conventions last week. The students are getting better at editing their work to make sure it includes capital letters and punctuation marks.
Math : Last week we spent time investigating more complex word problems and how to solve them. We also talked about equivalent numbers and name collection boxes.
Social Studies : We learned a little bit about George Washington last week in recognition of President's Day.
Sorry, no pictures this week!
