Reading : The students love our nonfiction unit! We're currently working on learning about various kinds of nonfiction conventions, and how to use them to gather information. This week, we'll be discussing labels, photographs, captions, and comparisons.
Writing : The growth in the students' writing from the beginning of the year is astounding. We're currently working on making our writing 'easy to read,' and the students are making great choices as writers. This week we'll work on making sure our writing has good endings and details, like feelings and dialogue.
Math : Keep practicing those fact triangles! These are a great way to help the students learn their math facts, and how numbers relate to one another. We're continuing our study of fact families this week.
Mexico : I haven't written much about social studies or science recently, but we've been learning a lot about Mexico. We're going to begin comparing what we know about Mexican culture to the culture that the students are familiar with in America.
Parent/Teacher Conferences : These conferences are scheduled for next week. Please make sure to arrive promptly at your scheduled time so that we have a full twenty minutes to discuss your child's growth.
Yoga : Don't forget to send your child to school with a towel and wearing comfy clothes on Friday!
